Backseat Virgins, Born Again has been described as "a nice mix of Beach Boys influenced pop music and 50's rock; with nods to the Travoltas, and The Queers. Whether or not this description holds true is irrelevant, because according to the throngs of new fans that the band has won over with their harmony laden bubblegum pop, the Backseat Virgins have brought something new to a stagnated sub-genre. This new approach is evident in their high energy live show--they been careful to translate all of this excitement and feeling into their new album--it has slapped jaded fans of pop right across the face. Born Again is a fun and playful record that may not reinvent the genre of bubblegum pop-punk, but it certainly shocks the hell out of it.
